After our recent problems with intruders we decided to get ourselves a dog. It was a big decision as we had, a while back, decided we didn’t want anymore pets.
So the specs were: Big, black, long nose and previous experience in attacking “badies” an advantage.
The lady to whom our horse went, has about 100 dogs (no exaggeration) so we contacted her. Whilst in Francistown yesterday we made her a visit and we returned home with a black German Shepard that was a security dog – YES, it met all our criteria.
Welcome into the family Onyx (not given by us) with my given alias “the bone collector”.
After a long hot drive back from Francistown, she drank about 20 liters and then jumped into our pond.
So far she hasn’t shown much interest in people walking by, but given other dogs and goats a lot of her attention. I was at least hoping she would have a go at my gardener.
She is settling in well and is very sweet and beautiful. It is also great having a dog that listens.
Already we feel much safer.
