New addition to our family

After our recent problems with intruders we decided to get ourselves a dog. It was a big decision as we had, a while back, decided we didn’t want anymore pets.

So the specs were: Big, black, long nose and previous experience in attacking “badies” an advantage.

DSC_0029The lady to whom our horse went, has about 100 dogs (no exaggeration) so we contacted her. Whilst in Francistown yesterday we made her a visit and we returned home with a black German Shepard that was a security dog – YES, it met all our criteria.

Welcome into the family Onyx (not given by us) with my given alias “the bone collector”.

After a long hot drive back from Francistown, she drank about 20 liters and then jumped into our pond.

So far she hasn’t shown much interest in people walking by, but given other dogs and goats a lot of  her attention. I was at least hoping she would have a go at my gardener.

She is settling in well and is very sweet and beautiful. It is also great having a dog that listens.

Already we feel much safer.

Greetings to you all from an autumnal UK.

Nice to read about Onyx and the settling in period. May she get to scare a few people, when the word will get round real fast! Either that or she will lick people to death! Our guard dog Harvey, was fine with people coming in the house but attacked on the way out. The news about him got round the Rustenburg locals very fast.

Eldest daughter and I decided not to have pets here but recently 2 abandoned cats became squatters and appear to have moved in fulltime!

So wishing you peaceful days with woofing security.
