Karowe Diamond Mine, where Sue work’s, have helped their staff purchase bicycles so they can partake in the cycle challenge, see my posting on this, which happens this coming Sunday.
About 80 bikes were bought by the staff and we organised a fun cycle, last Saturday so they could get used to the bikes.
Over 30 cyclists turned up and the idea was that they could ride what ever distance they wished. Some went as far as Mmatshumo village and back, a distance of about 70 km, whilst others did about 20 km. After the ride, Minopex, served breakfast rolls for all.
It is wonderful to see how the staff have taken to cycling, there is a lot of excitement and happiness.
The mine has an initiative “Taking Wellness to the Community”. This is another example of the great job they are doing.
This Sunday is the Karowe Diamond Mine Cycle Challenge who is in?
